UK reports 2,357 COVID-19 infections, 4 fatalities

A total of 2,357 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the UK Monday, pushing the caseload to more than 4.4 million, according to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

COVID-19 killed 4 people in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll in the kingdom to 127,609, the DHSC added.

In a related context, the Public Health Authority in England said that the data of vaccinations with the AstraZeneca vaccine showed that a single dose of it leads to an 80 percent reduction in the risk of death from the virus.

It added that its new analysis also showed that the protection from the risk of death provided by the Pfizer and Biontec vaccine increases from about 80 percent after the first dose to 97 percent after two doses.
