Riyadh: Director General of the Social Security Corporation (SSC) Mohammad Tarawneh was honored with international excellence awards during a formal ceremony and three-day international conference held by the International Social Security Association (ISSA) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event was organized in collaboration with the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) of Saudi Arabia.
According to Jordan News Agency, the SSC received the International Certificate of Excellence in Service Quality for social security institutions across the Asia-Pacific region for 2024. Additionally, SSC was awarded the Certified Excellence Seal and the Best Practices Award for its initiatives to ease the financial burdens of university education for the children of retirees and its efforts to raise awareness about social security among university students.
Tarawneh described these accolades as a significant national achievement on the global stage, attributing the success to the guidance and support of His Majesty
King Abdullah II, who places high importance on social protection initiatives. He highlighted that the recognition under ISSA’s service quality program underscores the effectiveness of SSC’s services, aligning with international standards.
Tarawneh commended the corporation’s efforts in expanding social security coverage through awareness campaigns and initiatives that ease university tuition costs for retirees’ children, such as scholarships for economically disadvantaged families and installment payment plans for tuition fees from retirement pensions. He also emphasized SSC’s alignment with the directives outlined in Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan’s Letter of Designation, which prioritizes administrative modernization, economic development, and fostering a culture of excellence in public institutions.
Tarawneh congratulated SSC employees for their collective efforts in achieving this international recognition and thanked Saudi Arabia for its hospitality and outstanding organization of the event. He extended
his gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Finance and GOSI’s Governor for their support in hosting the conference.
The ISSA, a United Nations-affiliated organization headquartered in Geneva, includes over 327 social security and insurance entities from more than 150 countries worldwide.
