Amman: The Jordanian Committee for Supporting Gaza Health Sector has honored several doctors from the Gaza Strip who completed their higher residency and training programs in Jordan. The recognition took place during the committee's annual charity iftar banquet, highlighting the successful completion of the "Healthcare Workers Scholarship Project."
According to Jordan News Agency, this initiative reflects the committee's ongoing efforts to empower 168 healthcare professionals from Gaza-comprising specialist doctors, dentists, nurses, and laboratory technicians-to strengthen the hospitals in Gaza with specialized expertise amidst challenging circumstances.
During the honoring ceremony, Committee Chairman Jihad Ajlouni emphasized that the event represents a continuation of the committee's mission since its inception in 2008, which includes providing relief support through medical supplies and delegations. Ajlouni noted that the aid also aims to promote "sustainable human development" by training medical personnel and restoring damaged health facilities in Gaza.
The newly graduated doctors expressed their gratitude for Jordan's role in supporting Gazans and facilitating access to medical education. Dr. Muzaffar Jalamdeh, Secretary of the Jordanian Medical Association, presented commemorative shields to the graduates, marking their achievements.
The ceremony also featured documentary films highlighting the challenges faced by doctors working in temporary conditions in Gaza and paid tribute to the late Dr. Marwan Sultan, honoring his contributions to the medical field.
