Senator Emphasizes Youth Political Literacy at Irbid Workshop

Irbid:Senator Zuhair Abu Faris underscored the importance of political awareness among Jordanian youth during a workshop in Irbid. He emphasized the need for active youth engagement in party platforms and civic life, which is crucial in the current phase of political modernization.

According to Jordan News Agency, the workshop was hosted by the All Jordan Youth Commission (AJYC) branch in Irbid, in collaboration with the Amman Institute for Modernization and Political Studies. Abu Faris highlighted that national legislation related to political parties and elections provides a conducive environment for youth involvement in decision-making processes.

Abu Faris pointed out that political empowerment involves more than just theoretical understanding; it requires active participation in program-based political parties. He mentioned that these parties are essential for forming parliamentary majorities based on policy platforms, aligning with the political modernization efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Abeer Hatamleh, the AJYC Irbid Coordinator, remarked that the workshop aimed to enhance democratic awareness among youth in the governorates and equip them with the necessary legal and political knowledge to navigate electoral laws. She reaffirmed the commission's dedication to building youth capacity and forming partnerships with civil society organizations.

Engineer Ghassan Al-Azzam, who participated in the workshop, emphasized the importance of such sessions in increasing political literacy. He noted that they help clarify regulations regarding party membership and address past hesitations about political engagement.
