Karak:Security forces in Karak Governorate successfully neutralized a contraband payload containing automatic weapons and tactical equipment, as confirmed by the Public Security Directorate (PSD) official spokesperson on Saturday.
According to Jordan News Agency, the operation followed a citizen's report about an unidentified package in the Muhai district. Units from the Karak Police Directorate quickly executed perimeter containment procedures, securing the area while specialized explosive ordnance disposal and forensic personnel inspected the suspicious package.
The technical examination revealed that the payload, transported across the border via airborne thermal balloons, contained nine automatic firearms and associated GPS tracking hardware. All items were seized and taken into custody.
Preliminary forensic intelligence suggests that prevailing winds from the Kingdom's southern frontier caused the airborne vector to drift into Jordanian airspace. Specialized security units have initiated a comprehensive investigation to trace the operational source and the illicit network responsible for the cross-border infiltration attempt.
