Amman:Jordan is undergoing a significant transformation in its approach to digital data management, as directed by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. During a meeting of the National Council for Future Technology, directives were issued to launch the National Digital Data Initiative. This initiative aims to collect, validate, govern, and continuously integrate state data assets across all public institutions.
According to Jordan News Agency, this strategic move is intended to dismantle historical "data islands" within government bodies. By creating a secure, interconnected, and continuously updated national database, the initiative will facilitate seamless inter-agency data flow, governed by strong legal protocols and clear access privileges.
IT consultant Eng. Abdul Hameed Al-Rahamneh highlighted the benefits of this unified system, emphasizing that secure data sharing between government entities will eliminate the need for citizens to repeatedly visit multiple offices. This will allow complex transactions to be completed online, from home.
Furthermore, the initiative will enhance administrative efficiency by providing state planners with precise tools for public investment. Real-time metrics will replace costly field surveys, revealing exact geographic demand for new public infrastructure.
Dr. Hamza Al-Akalik, a consultant in digital transformation governance, describes the initiative as a sovereign milestone. He emphasizes the importance of establishing a stringent data governance matrix based on the Personal Data Protection Law and cybersecurity standards. This framework will ensure data integrity and provide real-time predictive analytics for economic planning and public health strategies.
The initiative also promises to impact academia, entrepreneurship, and private sector growth. Dr. Hadeel Al-Ma'aitah from Hashemite University notes that reliable datasets will serve as foundational materials for startups and researchers to design AI applications and commercial solutions.
Dr. Reham Al-Zughayer of the Economic and Social Council stresses the importance of establishing a comprehensive national governance framework to fully leverage collected data. By training local talent in data analysis, Jordan aims to convert raw information into economic value and high-tech employment opportunities.
Ultimately, the National Digital Data Initiative positions Jordan as a regional hub for data-driven innovation and sovereign digital governance, aligning royal vision with institutional execution.
