SCMCHA discusses UN coordinator ways to address displaced and affected people’s suffering


Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Administration and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation(SCMCHA), Ibrahim Al-Hamli, met today,Wednesday, the United Nations Resident Coordinator – Humanitarian Coordinator, Julien Harneis .

The meeting touched on a number of topics related to the humanitarian situation, and ways to enhance and develop joint action to alleviate the suffering of citizens, especially the displaced and the groups most in need in terms of livelihood, as a result of the human suffering caused by the aggression and siege.

The Secretary-General of the Council reviewed the humanitarian suffering that the Yemeni people have been experiencing for nine years, especially in terms of livelihood among various segments of Yemeni society, which worsened after the decision to stop aid.

Al-Hamli stressed the need to restore humanitarian interventions through the disbursement of food aid and other projects, to reduce the slide towards dangerous stages of famine.

e pointed out the need to increase humanitarian support for the Yemeni people and not to involve the humanitarian file in political bargaining processes. He stressed that the Supreme Council provides facilities to the United Nations and various international organizations working in the humanitarian field and to overcome any difficulties facing their activities and enhance the chances of success for joint humanitarian efforts.

For his part,Harneis confirmed that the United Nations is working to mobilize funds to redisburse food aid and address all problems facing humanitarian work, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs, praising the role of the Supreme Council in facilitating the work of organizations.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mohammed Al-Razza.
