LTRC Launches Awareness Campaign Against Unlicensed Transport Apps

Amman: The Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) has launched a comprehensive awareness campaign across its official social media platforms to curb the use of unlicensed passenger transport applications.

According to Jordan News Agency, in coordination with relevant authorities, the commission issued educational advisories citing the legal framework governing the sector. The LTRC highlighted Article 22 of the 2017 Passenger Transport Regulation Law, which stipulates that individuals providing transport services without a prior license face fines ranging from JD1,000 to JD5,000.

The campaign aims to educate the public on the significant risks associated with using unregulated transport methods. The LTRC emphasized that unlicensed vehicles lack official safety standards and proper insurance coverage, posing a threat to passenger security.

Furthermore, the commission noted that these unauthorized services operate outside official oversight, creating negative economic impacts and regulatory challenges for the kingdom's organized transport sector.
