Russeifa Launches Environmental Day as Part of National Cleanliness Campaign

Russeifa: The Russeifa District Directorate, in coordination with the Zarqa Environment Directorate and the Russeifa Municipality, launched a comprehensive environmental day on Tuesday as part of the national cleanliness campaign and the 2026-2027 strategic program to curb littering.

According to Jordan News Agency, the initiative saw participation from government institutions and local community organizations. Ayman Al-Roumi Bani Khalid, the District Governor, stated that the campaign adopts a participatory approach aimed at creating an immediate improvement in the local environment. He noted that the day's achievements serve as a foundation for sustainable efforts to foster a culture of cleanliness and social responsibility.

Mohammad Al-Zaboun, Chairman of the Russeifa Municipal Committee, affirmed that the municipality is committed to enhancing public hygiene and service efficiency through ongoing collaboration with various partners to improve the overall quality of life for residents.

The environmental day included field cleaning operations at targeted sites, including schools and their surroundings, the railway area, and the district's main entrances. Parallel to the physical cleanup, the Community Police, the Russeifa Environmental Window Association, and Civil Defense personnel conducted three awareness workshops in local schools focusing on environmental ethics and proper waste disposal.

The campaign also involved debris removal, site sterilization, and pest control spraying. Additionally, a traffic-focused environmental drive targeted motorists, where volunteers distributed waste bags to drivers to discourage littering from vehicles and promote civic behavior.

A group of stakeholders supported the initiative, including the Joint Services Council, charitable societies, schools, students from Al-Balqa Applied University, and Public Security Directorate (PSD) personnel.
