Petra board of directors holds 1st session

Jordan News Agency (Petra)’s board of directors held Tuesday its first session, which was chaired by Faisal Shboul, Minister of State for Media Affairs, the government spokesperson and Chairman of the board.

The session discussed key future directions and development plans that enhance Petra’s position as an institution that leads the state’s media.

During the meeting, held at the Petra’s headquarters, Shboul stressed the importance of journalistic expertise in enhancing professional roles of “Petra” and the Jordanian media in general, noting that the current board’s formation combines members of the journalists community in general and the agency’s retirees as houses of expertise and knowledge, who have the required capabilities to manage and deal with all media issues.

Shboul called for propose development projects and ideas that would enhance Petra’s professional performance.

For his part, Petra’s Director General, Fayeq Hijazin, highlighted key development plans that the agency has recently begun to implement.

Hijazin expressed the agency’s readiness to implement proposals submitted to develop performance, calling on the board members to reflect their professional expertise through projects and proposals in order to be adopted by the agency later.

In turn, the board members presented a set of ideas aimed at enhancing efforts of Petra and its employees, lauding its efforts in confronting negative ideas, especially those that affect the progress of the Jordanian state.

They commended the board’s formation mechanism, its focus on journalists, and the alignment with women’s representation by granting two female colleagues membership in the board.
