Orange Jordan Celebrates Milestones and Royal Recognition in 2024, Says CEO

Amman: The CEO of Orange Jordan, Philippe Mansour, highlighted the royal support for the telecom sector in Jordan as a key factor in transforming the Kingdom into a regional technology hub. This initiative draws industry leaders and policymakers from around the globe to Jordan.

According to Jordan News Agency, this year marks the 25th anniversary of Orange Group’s investment in Jordan. Mansour announced that the company has invested JD2 billion to enhance IT infrastructure. He expressed pride in renewing the Public Telecommunications Individual License for another 15 years, which not only demonstrates the trust Orange enjoys at the national level but also emphasizes their commitment to prioritizing customer needs. This customer-centric approach is reflected in their efforts to anticipate needs and introduce innovative services and technologies.

Mansour elaborated on Orange Jordan’s continuous improvements to their fiber network infrastructure, adopting the latest technologies to enhance customer experience and expanding geographical coverage across the Kingdom. Last year, the company introduced Wi-Fi 6 and Fiber to the Room (FTTR) to the Jordanian market. They are committed to advancing broadband services, improving their fiber network, and offering various bandwidths for their 5G network, expanding coverage across 1,000 sites within a year.

He also introduced the Digital Self-Registration Service using the Electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) system, allowing customers to subscribe and authenticate prepaid mobile lines electronically and safely, verifying their identity without visiting physical shops.

The year 2024 was described as remarkable for the company, with Orange being honored by His Majesty King Abdullah II with the EFQM Recognized Excellence certificate, a 5-star rating by the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah II also visited the Orange Digital Village in Aqaba, which offers programs like Coding Academy and Fabrication Lab, aligning with his vision of empowering youth.

According to Mansour, Orange’s efforts earned them multiple recognitions, including the Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Work in the ‘For-profit Organizations in Corporate Social Responsibility’ category, acknowledging the Coding Academy’s efforts under Orange Digital Centers (ODC).

Mansour noted that Orange was recognized for offering the fastest fixed internet fiber speed in Jordan for 2024 by SpeedChecker for the third consecutive year. They also received the Customer Operations Performance Centre (COPC) certification for the fifth year. Orange adheres to the Gender Equality European and International Standard (GEEIS) certification, reviewed biennially.

Last year was marked by significant achievements such as renewing an agreement with the Jordanian Armed Forces and inaugurating an eco-friendly Abdoun Flagship. Orange also launched the slogan ‘Orange is Here,’ reflecting their commitment to enhancing customer, partner, and community experiences.

Mansour emphasized Orange Jordan’s commitment to community support through CSR programs under the Orange Digital Centers (ODC), aiming to empower women, youth, entrepreneurs, and persons with disabilities. The company’s digital culture initiatives earned them the Digital Skills Development Award from the MENA ICT Forum 2024.

Regarding entrepreneurship, Mansour shared that Orange facilitated startups under ‘BIG by Orange’ and the AI Incubator to participate in the Startup Village Arabia at MENA ICT Forum. Participants also showcased innovations like the virtual hospital project at SOFEX 2024.

In conclusion, 2024 marked the fifth anniversary of the Orange Coding Academy and School, which has graduated 1,550 young individuals, with 80% accessing the labor market. Orange Group also invested in the Jordanian startup InvoiceQ, signaling its potential in the financial technology sector.
