The Moroccan Embassy in Amman on Sunday hosted a celebratory event to mark the 24th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne. The occasion brought together distinguished dignitaries, diplomats, journalists, and guests to commemorate the significant milestone. Adel Oussi Hamou, the acting ambassador of Morocco to Jordan, delivered a speech during the event, emphasizing the deep-rooted relationship between Jordan and Morocco, praising the coordination of their positions, which served as an exemplary model for international cooperation. “The strategic partnership between the two countries encompasses various sectors, including renewable energy, agriculture, and tourism, in addition to exchanging expertise in vocational training, particularly in areas related to the tourism industry, food production, construction, public works, and water resource management,” he added. Hamou lauded the wise policies of King Abdullah II and his invaluable contributions to strengthening Arab solidarity and supporting collective Arab endeavors. He also commended Jordan’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity, as per the autonomy initiative and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. The Moroccan official also highlighted the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian sanctuaries in Jerusalem as an important responsibility held jointly by his country and Jordan, saying that the collaborative efforts in serving the Palestinian cause were underscored, with King Mohammed VI serving as the Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee and King Abdullah II as the Custodian of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. During the event, Hamou emphasized that the celebration of the 24th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne serves as an opportunity to reaffirm the strong bond between the Moroccan people and their monarchy, providing a platform to reflect on the remarkable achievements made by Morocco under their enlightened leadership. Among the notable accomplishments, he highlighted the strides taken in democratic development, economic growth, and social progress. Under King Mohammed VI’s guidance, the country launched several significant development projects, including the New Investment Charter and the National Charter for Development. These initiatives embody the strategic pillars of Morocco’s new development model, which aims to propel the country toward greater prosperity. Additionally, the automotive and aircraft parts industry in Morocco received a commendation for its remarkable growth and contributions to the national economy. Regarding the issue of Morocco’s territorial integrity, Hamou acknowledged the widespread support received for the Moroccan proposal for autonomy, with several countries from diverse continents backing the initiative. This international recognition reflects the credibility and seriousness of Morocco’s proposal as a permanent solution to the long-standing conflict. “The Moroccan diplomatic efforts and the global acknowledgment of the legitimacy of the Moroccan position led to the establishment of over 30 consulates general in the southern provinces of Morocco, particularly in the cities of Dakhla and Laayoune in the Moroccan Sahara. Notably, a Consulate General of Jordan was inaugurated in Laayoune,” he said.
