King Abdullah II Reaffirms Jordan’s Stance on Palestinian Issues, Rejects Displacement and Resettlement

Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause, emphasizing rejection of displacement, resettlement, and an alternative homeland, according to a royal court statement.

According to Jordan News Agency, during a meeting with military retirees at the Royal Hashemite Court on Veterans Day, which was attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the King stressed that his position has remained consistent over the years. He reiterated, “For 25 years, I have been saying no to displacement, no to resettlement, no to the alternative homeland,” denouncing any skepticism regarding these steadfast positions.

The King conveyed optimism in the face of challenges, citing his reliance on the strength and courage drawn from Jordanians, the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), security agencies, and retired military personnel. He emphasized that military retirees are always prepared to support him against any adversities.

Addressing his recent visit to Washington, DC, King Abdullah highlighted the priority of preserving Jordan’s interests and stability, and the necessity of protecting Jordan and its citizens. He underscored the importance of reconstructing Gaza without displacing Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank, advocating for de-escalation in the West Bank. The King reiterated that achieving just peace through the two-state solution is crucial for regional stability.

His Majesty expressed pride in the JAF and security agencies, acknowledging their sacrifices in safeguarding Jordan and its resources. He noted the significant role of military retirees in enhancing Jordan’s achievements and institutions and thanked Jordanians for their warm reception upon his return from the United States.

Retired Maj. Gen. Ismail Al Shobaki, representing military retirees, praised the King’s continuous support for veterans and their confidence in his leadership. Shobaki commended His Majesty’s efforts to protect Jordanian interests and support Arab brethren, particularly Palestinians, by rejecting displacement and advocating for their independent state. He also emphasized the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship of holy sites in Jerusalem.

The meeting was attended by Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, Public Security Directorate Director Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah, Acting Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Assistant for Operations and Training Brig. Gen. Naji Manaseer, and Economic and Social Association of Retired Servicemen and Veterans Director retired Maj. Gen. Adnan Al Raqqad.
