Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II received a phone call from France President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, during which he emphasized the urgent need to intensify efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and reduce tensions in the West Bank.
According to Jordan News Agency, the King underscored the necessity of ensuring that humanitarian aid continues to flow without interruption to all areas within the Gaza Strip. He highlighted the ongoing collaboration between Jordan and France aimed at bolstering the humanitarian response in the region.
King Abdullah II reiterated Jordan’s opposition to Israeli statements concerning the “Greater Israel” vision, including plans aimed at consolidating the occupation of Gaza, expanding military control, and implementing unilateral measures in the West Bank, such as the settlement plan in the E1 area.
The King asserted that a just and comprehensive peace in the region can only be achieved through a two-state solution. He noted the significance of France’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine, considering it a step toward providing more support to Palestinians and achieving regional stability.
The discussion also covered other regional issues, highlighting Jordan’s role in supporting Syria and Lebanon in their efforts to maintain sovereignty and enhance stability.
