Khasawneh urges abidance by defence orders, ramping control

The prime minister Tuesday called for the implementation of the defence orders put in place to counter the COVID-19 pandemic and the ramping up of inspections in private and public institutions.

Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh held a meeting of the “higher framework committee on the coronavirus pandemic” amidst a rise in the number of daily COVID-19 cases.

Khasawneh said it falls on individuals and institutions to keep the country open and keep the economy going without disruptions towards full recovery.

He emphasised the need to keep the momentum of the vaccination campaign so that it would target more people, and he highlighted the importance of the booster shot to protect people from the highly contagious lung disease.

Feras Hawari, the health minister, briefed the committee on the developments in COVID-19 and the notable increase in the number and percentage of daily positive PCR tests.

Hawari underlined his ministry’s response plan to the rising number of COVID-19 infections, highlighting the vast majority of COVID patients had not received a vaccine.
