Amman: Secretary-General of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC), Rana Saeed, presented Jordan’s leading efforts to enhance the role of women in sports during the Second Asian Seminar on Women’s Empowerment, organized Monday by the Olympic Council of Asia in Brunei. In her presentation, Saeed emphasized that the JOC, under the leadership of HRH Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, has become a regional model in supporting and empowering women in sports through clear strategies and policies spanning management, coaching, refereeing, and competitive participation.
According to Jordan News Agency, Saeed highlighted significant achievements, including the appointment of 71 women to decision-making roles within sports federation boards and the remarkable success of 486 Jordanian female athletes who won medals across various competitions in 2024 alone. Saeed affirmed the JOC’s commitment to gender balance in all training programs and workshops, along with the allocation of specialized staff to ensure the protection and well-being of female athletes, fostering a safe, inclusive, and motivating sports environment.
She also highlighted the “Promising Falcons” initiative, which focuses on nurturing young girls and boys from an early age, developing their athletic and leadership potential. The Kingdom is actively working to expand such initiatives across a wider range of sports.
