Amman: Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa met with Canada's Ambassador Louis-Martin Aumais to explore potential collaboration in various social sectors.
According to Jordan News Agency, during their meeting, Bani Mustafa emphasized the significance of enhancing cooperation on the ministry's programs, particularly the childcare support project and the "Oases for Women and Girls Empowerment" project. These initiatives are implemented at the ministry's local community development centers in partnership with multiple entities, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing sustainable development and aiding the most vulnerable groups.
Bani Mustafa also highlighted the importance of effective partnerships across a range of social programs, including capacity-building for social-sector workers through accrediting training programs under the social work practice licensing system. This collaboration includes support for specialized workshops conducted in cooperation with the World University Service of Canada - Jordan Branch, under the BUCRA Project funded by the Canadian government.
The minister reviewed several social programs and services targeting specific groups, with a particular focus on services for persons with disabilities. She noted that these services align with Jordan's commitments, as outlined in the Amman-Berlin Declaration issued at the Global Disability Summit last year.
Ambassador Aumais, on his part, emphasized the value of cooperation in the exchange of expertise, strengthening the care sector, and supporting ministry programs. He praised the ministry's efforts in empowering its target groups and expressed hope for further expansion of cooperation between Jordan and Canada in the future.
