London: Lawmakers from Jordan and Ugandan leaders convened on Monday in London to explore potential avenues for economic cooperation. The discussions aimed to expand Jordanian exports and investments into the East African markets.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meetings included discussions with Uganda's Prime Minister, Investment Minister, and various business executives. Khaled Abu Hassan, Chair of the Economics and Investment Committee, emphasized that trade and investment are crucial gateways to fostering deeper political ties between the two nations. Haitham Zayadin, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and friendship committees in establishing a supportive framework for bilateral business growth.
The lawmakers stressed the importance of converting foreign diplomacy into tangible economic gains for Jordan, aligning with His Majesty King Abdullah II's vision for regional expansion. Ugandan leaders praised the King for his role in strengthening bilateral relations, acknowledging Jordan's stability and strategic location as an excellent base for trade. They expressed a strong interest in forming long-term partnerships focusing on Jordanian pharmaceuticals, technology, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors.
These discussions took place on the sidelines of the UK-Africa Investment Summit 2026. During the summit, Abu Hassan urged the transition from dialogue to action by establishing bankable investment partnerships to ensure mutual economic benefits.
