Amman: The Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan, in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Jordan, has unveiled two pivotal strategic reports examining the intricacies of Jordanian-Chinese and Arab-Chinese relations.
According to Jordan News Agency, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei remarked that these reports are the culmination of a visit by four researchers to China, where they documented their insights through comprehensive research-based analysis. This launch is particularly significant as it coincides with the 70th anniversary of Arab-Chinese diplomatic relations and anticipates the upcoming 50th anniversary of Jordanian-Chinese relations.
Guo emphasized the shared interests and values between Arab countries and China, which have been instrumental in enhancing trade ties. He further highlighted the recent visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to China, describing it as a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between the two nations. The ambassador reiterated Beijing's commitment to fortifying ties with Jordan.
Former Prime Minister Adnan Badran underscored the importance of ongoing engagement with the outcomes of the King's visit, advocating for increased collaboration with China in sectors such as renewable energy and modern agriculture. Meanwhile, Senate Media and National Guidance Committee Chairman Mohammad Daoudieh noted that the royal visit provided a crucial opportunity to deepen bilateral relations. He also mentioned the expected arrival of Chinese delegations in Jordan in the near future, which will further enhance communication between the two countries.
Daoudieh highlighted the broad alignment between Amman and Beijing on various political issues, including support for the Palestinian cause. Center Director Hassan Momani disclosed that the preparation of the two reports took 10 months, aiming to establish a research-based reference framework on Jordanian-Chinese and Arab-Chinese relations.
Momani noted that the research builds on the King's recent visit to China and identified areas of common interest between Jordan and China, particularly concerning political issues like the Palestinian cause. Center researcher Tamara Zreiqat presented key findings from the report on Jordanian-Chinese relations, focusing on political and economic dimensions, while Research Assistant Bilal Adailah reviewed the report on Arab-Chinese relations, emphasizing similar aspects.
The seminar concluded with an open discussion on the evolving Jordanian-Chinese relations and strategies to follow up on the outcomes of the King's recent visit to China.
