Jordan and Trkiye Engage in Extensive Talks on Syria and Gaza

Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, and Director of General Intelligence Maj. Gen. Ahmad Hosni held expanded talks in Amman with Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler, and Head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization Ibrahim Kalin. The discussions took place ahead of a high-level meeting with Syria’s neighboring countries, hosted by the Kingdom.

According to Jordan News Agency, the officials explored ways to enhance their bilateral relations within the framework of the “strategic” Jordanian-Turkish dialogue. The focus was on developments in Syria, particularly efforts to combat terrorism, address drug and arms smuggling, and support the Syrian people in rebuilding their country. The goal is to ensure Syria’s security, stability, unity, and the safety of its citizens, while preserving the rights of all Syrians.

The meeting also addressed efforts to consolidate a ceasefire in Gaza, provide humanitarian aid to various parts of the strip, and work towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. Separate talks were held between the Jordanian and Turkish counterparts to discuss enhancing bilateral relations, joint coordination, and regional developments.

The two countries previously held extensive talks in Ankara on January 6, 2025, as part of their strategic dialogue.
