Jordan and Gulf States Denounce Iranian Aggression, Demand Iraqi Intervention

Amman: Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait have expressed a unified and firm denunciation of Iran's recent aggressive actions, which they argue represent a stark violation of their sovereignty and territorial integrity. They assert that these actions contravene international law, international humanitarian law, and the United Nations Charter, regardless of whether they are executed directly by Iran or through its proxies and armed factions in the region.

According to Jordan News Agency, the coalition of countries particularly criticized assaults by Iran-aligned armed groups operating out of Iraq. These attacks, they claim, target several regional states and their infrastructure, thereby breaching international laws and conventions. The nations emphasized that such actions clearly violate United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which demands that Iran cease any attacks or threats against neighboring states, particularly those conducted via proxies.

In a joint statement, the countries reiterated their commitment to maintaining fraternal relations with Iraq but urged the Iraqi government to take immediate measures to halt attacks launched from its territory. The statement stressed the importance of preserving brotherly relations and preventing further escalation by curbing the actions of factions, militias, and armed groups operating from Iraq.

The statement further emphasized the countries' inherent right to self-defense, as enshrined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. This article guarantees the right of states to defend themselves individually and collectively in the event of aggression. The coalition expressed their resolve to take all necessary measures to maintain their sovereignty, security, and stability.

Additionally, the statement condemned the activities of sleeper cells loyal to Iran and terrorist organizations linked to Hezbollah, which threaten regional security and stability. The countries praised their armed forces for their vigilance and efforts in confronting these threats and commended their security agencies for their role in arresting these cells and thwarting their plans.
