Interior Minister: Launching Digital Certificates at CSPD Next Month

Amman: Early next month, the Civil Status and Passports Department (CSPD) will begin issuing digital counterparts of existing civil status records, according to Minister of the Interior Mazen Al-Faraya. This development was announced during Minister Al-Faraya’s discussion with Ghaith Ghazi Al-Tayeb, the Director General of the CSPD, during his visit on Thursday.

According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Faraya emphasized that the Ministry of Interior and its divisions, including the CSPD, are committed to completing the public sector development plan and the e-government program. These efforts align with the Political Modernization System and the Economic Modernization Vision, marking the Kingdom’s entrance into its second century. The Minister commended the department’s progress in administrative and technical developments and stressed the importance of optimizing operations to better serve citizens in compliance with existing laws and regulations.

Al-Tayeb provided an overview of the department’s administrative, legal, and historical progress. He highlighted that the CSPD serves Jordanian citizens both domestically and internationally through 96 Civil Status and Passports offices and 56 Jordanian embassies and consulates abroad. He confirmed that citizens would soon be able to access digital copies of civil status certificates, such as marriage, divorce, birth, and death records, as well as family and individual registrations, available in both Arabic and English, via the Sand application. These digital certificates will include a QR code to verify their authenticity.

Al-Tayeb further reported that the department completed 3,337,747 transactions in the previous year and archived nearly 1.5 million files as part of the historical electronic archiving project. This initiative aims to preserve the nation’s memory and ensure accurate and timely access to information. In line with government directives to ease citizens’ burdens and enhance service quality, he noted that twenty-two electronic services have been launched for Jordanian citizens, underscoring the department’s dedication to digitizing all services.
