Industry Minister: 250 Jordanian Trucks Enter Syria Daily, plus transit cargo

Amman: Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah announced that between 200 and 250 Jordanian trucks loaded with national products are crossing into Syria daily, along with transit cargo. This development highlights the increasing trade activity between the two countries.

According to Jordan News Agency, during the Second Conference on Industry, Investment and the Reconstruction of Syria, Al Qudah emphasized the positive impact of these exports on the Port of Aqaba, noting a 30 percent rise in container handling volumes. Efforts are underway to enhance transit trade with various countries, including discussions to reopen the Bab al-Hawa crossing between Turkey and Syria, facilitating the export of Jordanian goods to European and other markets.

The minister encouraged Jordan’s private sector to take advantage of opportunities in the Syrian market, especially in exports. He highlighted the presence of government committees focused on bolstering cooperation in trade, transport, administrative and technical infrastructure, water, and agriculture sectors.

Despite regional challenges, Al Qudah stated that the national economy has achieved positive outcomes. In the first quarter of the year, growth reached 2.7 percent, surpassing previous forecasts of 2.2 percent. Additionally, national exports increased by 9.2 percent in the first five months, accompanied by a 14 percent rise in foreign investments.
