Foreign Minister Discusses Economic and Defence Ties with French Senators

Amman: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi discussed the importance of Jordanian-French relations in economic and defence areas. During his meeting on Tuesday with a delegation from the French Senate, Safadi emphasised the depth of Jordanian-French coordination on regional developments, particularly efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, which is facing a humanitarian catastrophe as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression and Israel’s prevention of aid entry.

According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi highlighted the importance of the conference to be co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France to support the two-state solution, stressing that it is the only way to achieve just peace in the region, praising French President Emmanuel Macron’s statements on recognising the Palestinian state.

Safadi discussed the situation in Syria with the French delegation, stressing the need to support the Syrian government in its reconstruction efforts and lift sanctions on Syria. He also emphasised the need to support Lebanon, its security, sovereignty and stability and to consolidate the ceasefire.

The French delegation comprised Vice-President of the Senate Loc Agve; Chairman of the Committee on Liaison, Reflection and Solidarity with Eastern Christians, Minorities in the Middle East, and Kurds Etienne Blanc; and Chairman of the Jordanian-French Friendship Committee Cyril Beleva.
