King Abdullah II Meets French Senate Delegation to Discuss Regional Partnerships and Peace Efforts

Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday received a delegation from the French Senate, including representatives from the French-Jordanian Friendship Group and the Liaison Group for Reflection and Solidarity with Christians, Minorities, and Kurds in the Middle East. The meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, was also attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

According to Jordan News Agency, the King emphasized the importance of enhancing the partnership between Jordan and France. He expressed gratitude to France for its support in water and development projects in Jordan and acknowledged France’s significant role in promoting dialogue and peace efforts in the region, particularly in relation to the two-state solution.

The discussions also included efforts to end the conflict in Gaza, resume the flow of aid, and gather support for the Arab plan to reconstruct Gaza without displacing its residents. Additionally, the meeting addressed the need to halt escalations in the West Bank and prevent violations of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty’s chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, the King reiterated Jordan’s commitment to supporting the security, stability, and sovereignty of Syria and Lebanon. The meeting further highlighted the importance of protecting minority rights in the region, with a particular focus on safeguarding the Christian presence in the Middle East.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and France’s Ambassador to Jordan, Alexis Le Cour Grandmaison.
