FM meets Arab Parliament Speaker

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi received Tuesday Arab Parliament Speaker Adel Assoumi, who is visiting the Kingdom to participate in Arab Parliament’s meetings, which will be held in Amman this week.

The meeting dealt with the distinguished ties between Jordan and the Arab Parliament, Arab issues, and efforts to promote joint Arab action to support Arab issues and interests.

Safadi lauded the Arab Parliament’s efforts in launching a constructive dialogue between Arab and international parliaments, and in defending Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause.

He voiced the Kingdom’s pride in hosting the Arab Parliament’s committees meetings scheduled to be held on Thursday in Amman, which was chosen to be the first Arab capital to host the Arab Parliament’s meetings, following directions of the Arab Parliament presidency to hold its meetings in various Arab countries.

Assoumi commended the existing cooperation with Jordan, and the Jordanian Parliament’s key role in the Arab Parliament. He also stressed the importance of Jordan’s efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, to establish security and stability in the region, and to support the process of promoting joint Arab action and serving Arab causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.

The Arab Parliament had started holding its committees’ meetings in the Jordan Lower House of Parliament on Sunday, in preparation for holding its plenary session on Thursday at the Lower House.
