The “Business Creation Joint Event” held a meeting Monday under the project “BESTMEDGRAPE”, which is implemented in cooperation with the European Union and partner countries to review the project’s latest achievements.
The project, carried out by the Jordan Society for Scientific Research, Entrepreneurship and Creativity (JSSREC), aims to provide business opportunities, enhance social and economic development and increase knowledge of nanotechnology in Jordan and the Mediterranean by using grape waste in Nano technological products.
During the meeting, ideas and projects of entrepreneurs from partner countries, including France, Italy, Lebanon, Tunisia and Jordan, were showcased to choose four projects as winners of a money prize.
President of JSSREC, Rida Khawaldeh, said today’s meeting is an anchor activity of the project to enable and help entrepreneurs to develop commercial ideas that can turn into startups or spinoffs.
The project’s achievements since its launch in February 2020 were displayed, he noted, adding that it performed business creation training, which included 13 training modules and 3 living labs in cooperation with Al-Ahliyya Amman University. It also hosted many speakers on entrepreneurship echosystem with remarkable results as 40 ideas were developed, which are applicable and efficient.
Khawaldeh stressed that anticipated outcomes of the event are not only to come up with ideas or evaluate pitches, but also boost communication between potential entrepreneurs and build borderless relations that create new business opportunities in the Mediterranean.
BESTMEDGRAPE coordinator, Gianluigi Bacchetta, said collective efforts have led to the day to present and apply ideas,” adding that there are many plans of the project’s future, especially ideas presented in this phase, despite the Covid-19 challenges.
He lauded the cooperation with the JSSREC and Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and called for the continuity of work and cooperation between the partners.
Assistant for Foreign Affairs in Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Anas Al Soud, underscored the university’s role and efforts in bolstering entrepreneurs’ creativity, pointing to ongoing cooperation with the JSSREC.
Coordinator for the Eastern Mediterranean, Esmat Karadsheh, commended the project’s achievements and interest to support entrepreneurial and purposeful projects.
The project is implemented by the JSSREC, under the supervision of its president, team and coordinator Sabah Saifan. Founder and General Manager at Academia Industry Platform, Khaled Khraisat, is the supervisor of the training stages and project design.
