Amman: The 3rd and final stage of the National School Debating Championship commenced in Amman on Monday. The event is organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Crown Prince Foundation (CPF) and forms a part of ongoing educational activities and plans.
According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Ajmal Tuwaiqat, Director of the Ministry’s Educational Activities Department, addressed the launch ceremony, emphasizing that the competitions are designed to promote positive concepts, enhance evidence-based dialogue, and develop students’ higher-order thinking skills.
Ola Badaineh, the Program Coordinator, highlighted that the student debating sessions within the qualifying stages aim to strengthen students’ understanding of democracy and teach them sound and positive methods for expressing opinions and embracing diversity.
In an official statement, the ministry revealed that the inaugural phase of the championship began at the start of the first academic semester, with 24 teams across the Kingdom qualifying for the competitions following provincial eliminations. The statement also noted that the elimination rounds will span four days to identify the top three teams.
