E-commerce Regulation Set to Boost Garment Sector’s Growth

Amman: The Textile, Readymade Clothes and Footwear Syndicate has praised national efforts to issue an e-commerce regulation, viewing it as a significant step towards creating a fair and equitable framework to support the sector’s stability and growth. The regulation aims to balance trader-consumer rights and clarify the legal relationships among courier companies, buyers, and merchants.

According to Jordan News Agency, the syndicate highlighted that this move is expected to address various challenges facing the sector and enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian merchants. The regulation was developed with input from all relevant stakeholders and was directly overseen by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply.

The provisions of the regulation include parcel trade rules that were crafted following reviews of best practices globally and regionally, integrating methods commonly used in international e-commerce. The syndicate emphasized its role in drafting the new system, recognizing the importance of regulating the e-commerce sector due to its direct impact on the clothing, footwear, and textiles industries.

The syndicate has committed to ongoing monitoring efforts, pledging to follow up on related executive instructions, provide feedback, protect the sector’s interests, and actively participate in formulating executive decisions.
