Danish Minister of Development Cooperation, Flemming Mortensen, was briefed on the conditions of Al Bashir Hospital for Specialised Surgery and the services provided to patients and visitors during a visit on Wednesday.

According to a Ministry of Health statement issued Thursday, Mortensen and the accompanying delegation were also briefed on the tally of operations performed to Syrian refugee patients referred from Jordanian outpatient and emergency clinics, and the hospital’s needs in terms of medical and nursing staff, compared to the number of the hospital’s available beds.

Established by Joint Grant Fund, the hospital, which is located on the premises of Al Bashir Hospitals complex, was inaugurated last July, and operated more than 220 cardiovascular and cardiac catheterisation surgeries, with the aim of supporting the “fair and quality” access to health services for Jordanians and refugees, with a cost of nearly JD8 million.
