Consultative meeting to strengthen women’s role in entrenching values of integrity and combating corruption

Head of the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption (SNACC) and the National Committee for Women organized on Sunday a consultative meeting to enhance the role of women in consolidating the values of integrity, transparency, combating corruption and preventing it.

At the opening of the meeting, which is part of the implementation of the contents of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2022-2026, the member of the Supreme National Commission for Combating Corruption, Dr. Maryam Al-Jawfi, affirmed that anti-corruption efforts cannot succeed unless women play an essential role in instilling the values of integrity and transparency in young people.

Turning to the serious damage to societies caused by corruption, she pointed out that according to numerous studies in that area, women were most affected by corruption.

For her part, the President of the National Women's Commission, Dr. Ghada Abu Talib, spoke about the role of women in combating corruption at the family level and within the general community framework and raising a generation aware of the dangers of corruption.

The meeting discussed three working papers on the authority’s vision in activating the role of women to promote the values of transparency and integrity, combating corruption and preventing it, implementing the contents of the national anti-corruption strategy 2022-2026 AD, the role of women in promoting religious and faith values among young people, and the vision of women’s components in activating the role of women in promoting the values of Transparency.

The meeting recommended attention to the recruitment of qualified personnel away from patronage and mediation, and the implementation of campaigns to enhance women's role in disseminating values of integrity.
