Amman: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, hosted Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani and his delegation for discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation between the armed forces of Jordan and Japan. The meeting focused on military training, expertise exchange, and the development of defense capabilities.
According to Jordan News Agency, both parties also addressed regional and international issues of mutual interest. During the visit, Huneiti and the Japanese delegation were informed about recent advancements within the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army across various defense and security domains. They were also updated on the JAF’s humanitarian efforts in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, as well as the latest regional developments and prevailing security challenges.
The Japanese Defense Minister emphasized the importance of continuing the partnership in military fields, particularly in joint training and expertise sharing. Nakatani expressed his desire for further cooperation to advance mutual interests. In addition, Huneiti and the delegation attended a field military exercise at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center.
The delegation observed a drill conducted by the King Abdullah II Royal Special Forces, which involved combat operations in urban settings supported by helicopters from the Royal Jordanian Air Force. According to a JAF statement, the troops showcased effective handling of various field scenarios. The event was also attended by the Japanese Ambassador, the Defense Attach© to the Kingdom, and several senior JAF officers.
