Anti-Narcotics Department Warns Helium Traders Against Aiding Drug Smugglers

Amman:The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) has issued a warning to helium importers and dealers, cautioning them against selling helium to smugglers who use the gas to transport drugs via balloons.

According to Jordan News Agency, investigations conducted by the Public Security Directorate (PSD) have uncovered several cases where traders supplied helium to smugglers. These vendors, along with the traffickers, have been apprehended and charged by the State Security Court for their involvement in the illegal activity.

To avoid legal repercussions, the AND advises helium suppliers to meticulously document all transactions and reject orders from buyers who appear suspicious. This measure is crucial to prevent facing criminal charges.

AND agents, working in conjunction with the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army, are actively monitoring new smuggling tactics, such as the use of helium balloons to fly narcotics across borders. The department has reaffirmed its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for anyone involved in the smuggling or distribution of illicit drugs within Jordan or into neighboring countries.
