Al-Balqa Applied University Secures Erasmus+ Project for AI in Higher Education

Amman:Al-Balqa Applied University: The university has won the MED-BALKAN AI EDU project under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education program, securing total funding of around £350,000. This initiative involves collaboration with universities and academic institutions from Jordan, Portugal, Latvia, Kosovo, and Egypt.

According to Jordan News Agency, the project aims to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in higher education. It seeks to enhance the digital education and innovation capabilities of academic and administrative staff while developing students' digital, green, and entrepreneurial skills to better prepare them for the evolving labor market demands.

University President Ahmad Ajlouni stated that securing the project highlights the university's academic standing and the trust international institutions place in its capabilities. He emphasized the university's dedication to staying abreast of advances in AI and digital transformation, expanding international cooperation, and promoting the exchange of expertise and knowledge.

Asmaa Wreikat, head of the university's project team, described the initiative as a significant step toward boosting the capacity of higher education institutions to meet rapid developments in education and technology. She noted that the university would collaborate with its international partners to develop innovative teaching practices and encourage the effective and responsible use of AI in education.

The project, led by a Latvian partner, unites higher education institutions from five countries, creating opportunities for sharing expertise and best practices in digital education and AI applications in higher education. Wreikat leads the university's project team alongside several faculty members as part of the university's efforts to expand its participation in European and international projects and strengthen its network of academic partnerships.
