Aqaba: Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat Saturday signed a cooperation agreement with Injaz organization to establish the main headquarters of the Platform technology center in Aqaba, with additional branches in Ma’an, Karak, and Tafilah Governorates, as part of the “Youth, Technology, and Jobs” project.
According to Jordan News Agency, the center will provide coworking spaces, training programs, and networking and collaboration opportunities targeting freelancers, entrepreneurs, startups, and civil society organizations, a ministry statement revealed. The initiative also focuses on supporting freelancing and digital transformation in the targeted regions by creating an innovation- and entrepreneurship-friendly environment.
Sami Smeirat, who signed the agreement with Injaz CEO Dima Bibi, highlighted that establishing such centers is central to the ministry’s strategy to promote innovation and create sustainable job opportunities. The project aims to enhance the digital skills of youth and women, particularly in underprivileged areas, and increase their contribution to the national digital economy.
Dima Bibi emphasized Injaz’s commitment to providing quality training programs that align with the labor market’s needs and support youth talent in collaboration with civil society organizations in the southern governorates. The project is expected to generate job opportunities by supporting small enterprises and freelance work, enhancing local digital skills, and stimulating new investments in the technology and outsourcing sectors, which, in turn, will have a positive economic impact on the region.
The Platform aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision and the National Digital Transformation Plan, underscoring the government’s commitment to establishing a comprehensive and sustainable knowledge economy throughout the Kingdom, as noted by the ministry.
