Amman:Chairman of the Association of Owners of Clearance and Transport Companies (AOCTC), Daifallah Abu Aqouleh, has expressed approval of Iraq's recent decision to issue visas on arrival for Jordanian citizens at its land and air border crossings. He described the move as a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations and boosting economic cooperation.
According to Jordan News Agency, the decision was announced by the Iraqi Embassy in Amman, following a ministerial order from the Iraqi Ministry of Interior. This order allows Jordanian citizens to receive visit visas upon arrival, thereby simplifying entry procedures into Iraq.
Abu Aqouleh emphasized that this development would eliminate administrative hurdles for citizens, traders, and business people, facilitating easier conduct of commercial activities and exploration of investment opportunities in both nations. He highlighted that Iraq is a crucial trading partner for Jordan, and the easing of travel restrictions is expected to invigorate bilateral trade by enabling business activities to proceed more smoothly.
The AOCTC chairman also noted the positive impact on Jordan's customs clearance and freight transport sector, as the decision would grant professionals greater flexibility in managing commercial and logistical operations across borders. This measure is anticipated to streamline goods movement, enhance supply chain efficiency, and cut down the time and costs associated with trade procedures.
Furthermore, Abu Aqouleh underscored the importance of facilitating travel for those involved in managing commercial operations, such as traders, investors, and logistics company representatives. He expressed gratitude towards the Iraqi government for their efforts in fostering robust economic ties and called attention to the potential for expanded trade and cooperation in transportation, logistics, and customs clearance between Jordan and Iraq.
