Amman:A cool and humid air mass from the eastern Mediterranean is predicted to bring widespread showers to northern and central Jordan on Friday, potentially resulting in heavy rainfall in some areas, as reported by the Jordan Meteorological Department.
According to Jordan News Agency, the looming weather system is expected to cause a gradual decline in temperatures, concluding a period of mild autumn weather and extending the likelihood of rain into Saturday.
Wednesday's weather is forecast to stay near seasonal averages, with pleasant conditions across most of the Kingdom, while moderate weather is expected in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Medium- and high-level clouds will be present, accompanied by moderate northwesterly winds, which may occasionally intensify. The department has cautioned that early-morning fog could impair visibility over the northern highlands and parts of the plains.
Temperature predictions for Wednesday include highs of 24 degrees Celsius in East Amman and 22 C in West Amman, with 21 C in the northern highlands, 22 C in the Sharah highlands, 25 C across the plains, and 27 C in the Badia. In the northern Jordan Valley and at the Dead Sea, temperatures are expected to reach 31 C, with 32 C in the southern Jordan Valley and Aqaba.
A minor temperature drop is expected on Thursday, though pleasant conditions will prevail in most regions. Clouds will appear at different altitudes, with the possibility of intermittent evening showers in parts of northern Jordan.
On Friday, rainfall is anticipated to become more widespread as temperatures decrease further and skies turn partly cloudy to overcast. Showers will initially impact northern Jordan before gradually moving into central areas and parts of the southwest, with occasional heavy rainfall possible in northern and central regions. The eastern and southeastern regions may experience a slight chance of light evening showers, while southwesterly to westerly winds could strengthen at times, raising dust across the Badia.
On Saturday, temperatures are expected to continue declining, with intermittent rain forecast for northern and central Jordan and limited southwestern areas. Some showers might also be accompanied by thunder, while active westerly winds are likely to raise dust in desert regions.
