Amman:Non-Jordanian workers in Jordan have been given an extension until December 1st to regularize their employment status, as announced by the Ministry of Labor. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to ensure compliance with the Labor Law and its associated regulations.
According to Jordan News Agency, Director of the Central Inspection Directorate at the Ministry of Labor, Haitham Najdawi, emphasized that inspection teams are actively conducting field visits to identify workers in violation of the Labor Law. He highlighted the importance of utilizing the remaining time to regularize the status of non-compliant workers.
The Ministry of Labor has warned that workers without a valid work permit, or those who have violated the terms of their permit by changing their occupation, employer, or workplace, will face deportation. The Council of Ministers has approved a series of incentives, including a 50% reduction in permit fees for workers who previously held permits and a full waiver of fines from both the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Interior.
Additionally, foreigners who entered Jordan for non-employment purposes and lack a work permit can regularize their status by paying the full work permit fee and a lump sum of JD500 for all previous years. A deportation flag will be activated in the Ministry's electronic systems for workers who fail to regularize their status by January 1st.
