Amman:Jordan's exports to the European Union increased by 20% year-on-year, reaching $518 million in the first seven months of 2026, as announced by Dana Zoubi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply, on Wednesday.
According to Jordan News Agency, Zoubi highlighted this growth during a ceremony that honored former board chairs and members of the European Chamber of Commerce in Jordan and marked the launch of its new committees. She noted that exports to the EU had previously seen a 39% increase in 2025, amounting to $881 million.
Despite challenges such as rising shipping costs and supply chain disruptions, Jordan's industry has successfully strengthened its presence in international markets. Zoubi emphasized the ministry's dedication to enhancing economic and trade relations with EU countries, focusing on utilizing simplified rules of origin to support Jordanian exports.
Zoubi also underscored the European Chamber of Commerce's role in fostering connections between Jordanian and European businesses, identifying investment opportunities, and forming partnerships. She called for increased coordination between the chamber, the ministry, and other stakeholders to transform opportunities into tangible projects and initiatives.
The government's Economic Modernization Vision aims to improve competitiveness, attract investment, expand exports, and generate jobs, with a significant role for the private sector. Zoubi stated that the ministry is executing the second phase of the National Export Strategy to diversify export destinations and bolster the presence of Jordanian products internationally, especially in the EU. This strategy aligns with other government initiatives, including the Industrial Strategy for 2024-2028.
Zoubi welcomed the chamber's newly established specialized committees, which are expected to enhance institutional cooperation and develop trade and investment initiatives between Jordan and EU member states.
Chamber Chairman Mohammad Smadi expressed condolences for the victims of a terrorist attack in Karak Governorate, condemning the incident and affirming commitment to national unity and security under King Abdullah II's leadership. Smadi emphasized Jordan's model of coexistence and the importance of government-private sector collaboration in economic development.
He outlined the chamber's plans to encourage European companies to engage with the Jordanian market and identified sectors such as industry, renewable energy, and technology as key areas for cooperation. Smadi also stressed supporting SMEs in accessing European markets and integrating into supply chains.
Smadi highlighted the upcoming Jordan-EU Investment Conference, emphasizing the need to convert its outcomes into actionable projects and partnerships. The chamber's new committees aim to strengthen governance, expand membership, and increase women's participation in business and investment. The European Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, launched in 2025, continues to facilitate trade and investment dialogue under the Jordan-EU Association Agreement.
