Paris: Audit Bureau President Radi Hamadin stressed the need to strengthen supreme audit institutions' role in protecting public funds and supporting fiscal sustainability through improved oversight tools, audit efficiency, and modern technology.
According to Jordan News Agency, Hamadin made the remarks at the Forum on Restoring Public Finances, held at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) headquarters in Paris. The event was attended by senior officials, audit bodies, and international governance and public finance experts.
He highlighted that the forum comes amid growing global fiscal challenges, including rising public debt, mounting pressure on government budgets, and the need for more sustainable and efficient fiscal policies. The discussions focused on fiscal sustainability, public spending efficiency, government resource management, and public awareness of fiscal challenges and required reforms.
Hamadin stated that key recommendations emerging from the forum included strengthening budget units, activating medium-term budget frameworks, and utilizing spending reviews to reprioritize expenditure. These measures aim to achieve savings and direct resources toward higher-impact programs.
On the sidelines of the forum, Hamadin attended the annual meeting of heads of supreme audit institutions. The meeting addressed audit priorities in the context of fiscal, economic, and technological shifts and explored the role of audit bodies in supporting public finance reform, improving government performance oversight, and enhancing accountability.
Additionally, Hamadin met with OECD partners to discuss projects implemented in Jordan to develop audit work and leverage international best practices in governance and oversight.
