Jordan and Azerbaijan Strengthen Bilateral Relations Across Multiple Sectors

Amman: The Azerbaijani Embassy in Amman has announced that relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan have seen significant progress under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The embassy highlighted advancements in political, economic, and cultural fields, as well as increased coordination in international forums that serve the shared interests of both nations.

According to Jordan News Agency, the announcement was made in a statement marking the 103rd anniversary of the birth of former Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev. The embassy emphasized Jordan's support for Azerbaijan's unity and territorial integrity, which underscores the strong ties between the two countries.

The embassy statement credited the late President Heydar Aliyev with establishing the foundation for Jordanian-Azerbaijani relations, which are based on mutual respect and cooperation. It further noted that Azerbaijan is continuing its development path under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, with a focus on strengthening relations with Jordan for the benefit of both peoples.

In addition, the embassy praised the initiative by the Greater Amman Municipality to name a street in Bader Al Jadidah after Heydar Aliyev, viewing it as a testament to the robust relationship between the two nations. Similarly, a street in Baku, Azerbaijan's capital, is named after the late King Hussein bin Talal, further solidifying the connection through a twinning agreement between Amman and Baku.

The statement also highlighted the scholarship programs provided by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to Jordanian students, which aim to enhance educational and cultural cooperation and open new opportunities for Jordanian youth.

Moreover, the embassy underscored the pivotal role played by Heydar Aliyev during a crucial period in Azerbaijan's history, noting his presidency began in 1993 when he focused on consolidating internal stability and reinforcing the country's unity and sovereignty.
