Jordan’s Industrial Producer Prices Decline by 2.89% in January 2026

Amman: Jordan's Industrial Producer Price Index (PPI) experienced a significant decrease of 2.89 percent in January 2026 compared with the same month in 2025, according to a monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics (DoS) on Wednesday. The report highlighted a 0.79 percent decline in producer prices compared with December 2025, with the index standing at 104.02 points in January 2026, down from 107.12 points in January 2025, and compared with 104.85 points recorded in December 2025.

According to Jordan News Agency, the year-on-year decline in January 2026 was primarily driven by a 3.51 percent drop in prices within the manufacturing sector, which holds a relative weight of 88.74 percent. Despite this, the prices of extractive industries rose by 3.63 percent, holding a relative importance of 5.36 percent, while electricity prices saw an increase of 0.82 percent, accounting for 5.91 percent of the index.

The monthly decline in the index from December 2025 to January 2026 was largely due to a 0.97 percent decrease in manufacturing prices. This decrease occurred despite a 0.41 percent increase in extractive industries prices and a 0.76 percent rise in electricity prices.
