Jordan’s Industrial Production Index Sees Marginal Growth in January 2025

Amman: Jordan's Industrial Production Quantity Index experienced a slight increase of 0.62 percent in January compared to the same month in 2025, as reported by the Department of Statistics (DoS).

According to Jordan News Agency, the index reached 88.55 points in January, rising from 88.0 points recorded during the same period last year. However, when compared to December 2025, a marginal decline of 0.25 percent was observed, with the index decreasing from 88.78 points to 88.55 points.

The year-on-year growth can be primarily attributed to a significant 6.99 percent rise in output from the extractive industries sector, which holds a relative importance of 5.4 percent, along with an 8.62 percent increase in electricity production, accounting for 5.9 percent of the index. Despite this growth, the manufacturing sector, which has the largest relative weight of 88.7 percent, experienced a minor decline of 0.26 percent.

In contrast, the comparison with December 2025 revealed a slight dip in the index, driven by a 1.11 percent decrease in manufacturing output. This was partially offset by increases in extractive industries production by 6.45 percent and electricity output by 7.09 percent.
