JRTV Director Participates in ASBU’s 114th Executive Council Meeting in Tunis

Tunis: Director General of the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTV) Ibrahim Bawarid took part on Sunday in the 114th meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) in Tunis, with ASBU President Mohammed Fahad Al-Harthi, Director General Abdulrahim Suleiman, First Deputy Mohammed Al-Awash, and representatives of the Arab member organizations also in attendance.

According to Jordan News Agency, Bawarid highlighted the beneficial relationship between JRTV and ASBU, noting its membership in both the Executive Council and the General Assembly has led to significant advantages from the union's services and consistent participation in its activities. The meeting addressed various issues, including the union's investments, budget, and prospective projects, with a particular focus on technological advancement in media, especially artificial intelligence. Bawarid expressed a desire for the development of a comprehensive Arab project to support member organizations and promote the use of artificial intelligence in Arab media.

Bawarid emphasized the meeting's focus on enhancing investment projects and maximizing their returns to support key engineering projects in audiovisual media. He mentioned that various proposals and projects would be submitted to the General Assembly meetings for appropriate decision-making to benefit joint Arab media efforts.

During the opening session, a report from the General Directorate highlighted activities conducted between the 113th and 114th Executive Council meetings. The report outlined projects aimed at developing the Arab Music and Singing Competition and proposed the establishment of the Arab Audiobooks Group. It also reviewed the union's plan for radio and television programming in 2026 and a calendar for covering key events in the upcoming year.

The report noted that Arab news exchanges exceeded 14,000 news items in 2025, with 19 Arab organizations involved. The union's Media Training Academy held 31 training courses this year, benefiting 543 trainees from 73 media organizations across 46 countries.
