Israeli Army Detains 15 Palestinians During West Bank Raids

Ramallah: The Israeli army launched a widespread arrest campaign in several areas across the occupied West Bank, detaining 15 Palestinians, according to local sources. The arrests occurred in various locations, including Nablus, Qalqilya, and Ramallah, as Israeli forces conducted raids and searches in these areas.

According to Anadolu Agency, three young people were arrested in Nablus’ Askar refugee camp, three in the southern Madama village, and two others in the eastern Beit Furik town. These detentions followed searches conducted by Israeli soldiers in the respective areas. In the northern city of Qalqilya, six Palestinians, including two siblings, were rounded up during a raid on the Kfar Saba neighborhood, as reported by the official news agency Wafa.

The Israeli army forces also stormed Bayt Rima town in northwestern Ramallah, central West Bank, where they fired stun grenades and tear gas canisters before detaining two Palestinians, local sources informed Anadolu. The recent detentions are part of ongoing tensions in the region.

According to the Commission of Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society, Israel has detained more than 20,000 Palestinians since October 2023, with over 9,100 still held, alongside hundreds in military camps. Attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers have increased in the occupied West Bank since the Gaza war in October 2023, resulting in more than 1,070 Palestinian deaths and 10,700 injuries, as per Palestinian figures.

In July, the International Court of Justice issued a significant opinion declaring Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the removal of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
