Amman: Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni emphasized the pivotal role of cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and the Public Security Directorate (PSD) in upholding the rule of law and safeguarding rights and freedoms. He described this collaboration as a national partnership that serves justice and protects society.
According to Jordan News Agency, Talhouni stated in a press release that his recent visit to the PSD and meeting with its Director, Maj. Gen. Obeidallah Maaytah, was a significant step towards reinforcing joint coordination, facilitating access to justice for citizens, and strengthening public trust in state institutions. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in judicial enforcement and the management of Jordan’s correction and rehabilitation centers.
Talhouni pointed out that these collaborative efforts aim to improve services provided to citizens and alleviate their burdens through more efficient and equitable litigation procedures. He commended the PSD’s efforts in combating crime and ensuring society’s protection, highlighting that these efforts demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding national security and human rights.
He further elaborated on ongoing initiatives to enhance joint actions by utilizing technological advancements, including remote trial services and electronic linkages. These measures are intended to save time and effort while ensuring fair and transparent access to justice.
The minister expressed appreciation for the PSD’s dedication to providing legal and technical services for inmates at correction and rehabilitation centers, ensuring their right to a fair trial and reflecting Jordan’s humanitarian approach to preserving human dignity.
Talhouni concluded by affirming that the ministry’s complementary relationship with the PSD will continue to serve as a model of effective national partnership, strengthening societal security and upholding the state’s principles of justice, fairness, and protection of rights.
