Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit Condemns Israeli Attack on Doha and Calls for Unified Action

Doha: An emergency Arab-Islamic summit convened in Doha, Qatar, with participation from His Majesty King Abdullah II and several Arab and Islamic leaders. The summit aims to address the recent Israeli attack targeting Doha and coordinate a collective response to escalating regional tensions.

According to Jordan News Agency, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, opened the summit by condemning the Israeli attack, calling it a cowardly act of terrorism. He criticized Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza as a war of extermination and accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of attempting to expand Israel’s influence in the Arab region.

Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, called the attack a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and urged the UN Security Council to hold Israel accountable. Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit described the aggression as a violation of humanitarian principles and warned against the perception of impunity among the perpetrators.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani highlighted the dangerous implications of the attack on Qatar for regional peace. He proposed forming a joint Arab-Islamic committee to present a unified position to international bodies. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi criticized Israel’s actions as a breach of international law and warned of potential regional destabilization.

The summit also saw contributions from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who emphasized the alarming nature of the attack on Qatar as a key mediator. He called for legal accountability for Israeli officials and economic pressure from Islamic countries. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas reiterated the demand for an independent Palestinian state and called for international intervention to stop Israeli violations.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian labeled the attack as blatant terrorism, while Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to peace based on the Arab Peace Initiative. Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud also voiced their condemnation and support for Qatar.

Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara and Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu emphasized the dangerous precedent set by targeting mediators. Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh called for an international investigation into the attack, and Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah affirmed the inseparability of Qatar’s security from regional security.

Yemeni and Libyan leaders called for a unified stance at the UN and accountability for Israel’s actions. Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Chair Abdel Fattah Burhan and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim called for strong Arab-Islamic action and a firm collective response. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif proposed suspending Israel’s UN membership, while Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs Shihab bin Tariq emphasized the importance of Qatar’s security to the broader region.
