Gazans Face Famine Threatening Population’s Survival: WHO

Amman: World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned of the risk of famine in Gaza.

According to Jordan News Agency, Ghebreyesus issued a statement on Wednesday highlighting the dire situation in the besieged and devastated territory. He pointed out that the volume of food entering Gaza is “significantly below the minimum required for the population’s survival.”

In his statement, Ghebreyesus expressed grave concern, stating, “A large portion of Gaza’s population is starving, and I can find no more accurate description than mass famine.” He emphasized that the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region is “man-made,” underscoring the urgent need for international intervention to alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza.
