Amman: Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat on Tuesday emphasized the significance of enhancing Jordanian-Egyptian agricultural integration. Hneifat underscored the historic bilateral relations between Jordan and Egypt, particularly in the field of agriculture, which he described as a critical component of the Arab food security system.
According to Jordan News Agency, Hneifat’s remarks were made during a meeting with Dr. Sayed Khalifa, Head of the Agricultural Professions Syndicate in Egypt, and Dr. Adel Abdel Azim, Head of the Egyptian Agricultural Research Center. During the meeting, Hneifat advocated for strengthening bilateral coordination and advancing joint work, focusing on the exchange of technical and technological expertise and the facilitation of joint agricultural trade.
Hneifat highlighted the opportunities to leverage Jordan’s agricultural production inputs, such as seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and veterinary medicines. He called for establishing direct communication channels between the two countries’ relevant authorities and the private sector to transform these opportunities into tangible projects.
Dr. Khalifa noted the professional relations between Jordanian and Egyptian agricultural associations, which he described as a successful model of cooperation. He emphasized the continued exchange of expertise, technical training, and strategic partnerships aimed at achieving agricultural integration and enhancing productivity.
Dr. Abdel Azim remarked that the visit would pave the way for scientific and research cooperation. He mentioned the initiative of the private sectors in Jordan and Egypt to launch direct networking, particularly in seed and fertilizer production. He also called for immediate meetings between investors from both countries to facilitate cooperation and ease the flow of Jordanian products into the Egyptian market.
Saleh Yassin, President of the Jordanian-Egyptian Agricultural Traders and Producers Association, highlighted the ongoing development in Jordanian-Egyptian agricultural relations, pointing to the significant presence of Jordanian companies in the Egyptian market. This, he stated, reflects the mutual trust and the importance of continuing economic partnerships that benefit both nations.
Ali Abu Nuqta, President of the Jordanian Agricultural Engineers Association, mentioned that the visit is part of ongoing arrangements and coordination efforts between the associations in Jordan and Egypt. He emphasized the shared vision of expanding technical cooperation and enhancing the capabilities of both countries’ agricultural sectors in the interests of agricultural engineers and farmers.
