Arab League Denounces Israeli Scheme to Enclose Palestinians in Gaza Compound

Cairo: The Arab League on Tuesday strongly condemned recently reported Israeli plans aimed at corralling Palestinians into what it described as a small camp in southern Gaza, calling the scheme “a gross affront to human dignity.”

According to Jordan News Agency, the League rejected the plan referred to by Israeli authorities as a “humanitarian city,” saying it bore no resemblance to either humanity or civilization.

“The rejected plan, in both form and substance, reveals a new low in the moral and ethical degradation of the occupation,” the statement said, emphasizing that Israel is plotting to continue its ethnic cleansing campaign, reassert military control over Gaza, and potentially pave the way for settlement expansion.

The League urged the international community to take a firm stand against what it called “inhuman schemes” that evoke memories of the darkest chapters of the 20th century events the world had vowed never to repeat.

It reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire and demanded that Israel stop stalling and inventing new pretexts to avoid fulfilling its obligations to end hostilities.
